Day 18: Fort Bragg, CA to Gualala, CA

41 miles

This was a day of medium to higher grade rollers along the coast on Highway 1, start to finish. The towns along the way were lovely, Mendocino being the first one of the day.

It is remarkably remote, especially because it's not so far north of San Francisco. There were many great view points along the way. Other towns we passed through were Little River, Elk, Point Arena, and Anchor Bay, each quite quaint and charming in their own way.

The coastline is not at all gentrified and is populated primarily with cattle farms.

Our hotel is in a lovely location. For the first time on the trip I took advantage of the jacuzzi. What the hotel has in ambiance and views, it lacks in connection to the outer world--no cell phone coverage or internet. This will get posted tomorrow.

I continue to have bike issues. I'll have the rear brakes looked at again in the morning.
